Day of Judgment
This life we live today is a very short life. The unbelievers on the Day of Judgment will think that the life they lived on earth was only a day or part of a day, as God has said:
He (God) will say, “How many years did you stay on the earth?” They will say: “We stayed a day or part of a day....” (Quran, 23:112-113)
And He has said:
Did you then think that We had created you in jest (without any purpose), and that you would not be returned to Us (in the Hereafter)? So, God is exalted, the True King. None has the right to be worshipped but Him... (Quran, 23:115-116)
The life in the Hereafter is a very real life. It is not only spiritual, but physical as well. We will live there with our souls and bodies.
In comparing this world with the Hereafter, the Prophet Muhammad said: {The value of this world compared to that of the Hereafter is like what your finger brings from the sea when you put it in and then take it out.}1 The meaning is that, the value of this world compared to that of the Hereafter is like a few drops of water compared to the sea.
What did Muhammed said that will happen to us on the Day of Judgment
Allah will confront His servant directly, without a mediator.
The messenger (S.A.W.) said: “ Allah will talk to everyone directly, without a translator. The person will look to his right, and will not see anything but his deeds. Then the person, will look in front of himself and will see nothing but the hellfire facing him. So protect yourself from Hellfire even by giving a charity of half a date.” {Reported by Imam Bukhari}
Prayer will be the first thing a person will be questioned about on the Day of Judgment.
The Messenger (S.A.W.) told us in an authentic hadith , “The first thing the people will be accountable for on the Day of Judgment is prayer, Allah will say to His angels (even though he already knows) : “Look at my servants prayers. Were they complete or not?” If they were complete It will be written as complete. If they were not fully complete Allah will say: “See if my servant has voluntary prayers, If he has them Allah will say: Complete his obligatory prayers shortage with his voluntary prayers.” Then the rest of his deeds will be dealt with in the same manner.” {Reported by Imams Ahmad, Abu Dawood, An-Nisa'i, and Al-Hakim}
We will be asked in the Day of Jajument about five things.
The prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: “The son of Adam will not pass away from Allah until he is asked about five things: how he lived his life, and how he utilized his youth, with what means did he earn his wealth, how did he spend his wealth, and what did he do with his knowledge.” {Good hadith reported by Imam At-Tirmithi}
The Messenger described the questioning in a speech reported by Imam Muslim that the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: "Allah (S.W.T.) will meet a person and ask him: "O person, Wasn't I generous with you, and made you with a spouse, and made the horses and camels at your disposal? The servant will reply "yes"! Allah (S.W.T.) will then ask “Did you think that you will meet me?” He will reply: "No!" Allah (S.W.T.) will say: "I will forget you like you forgot me"! Then Allah (S.W.T.) will meet another person and his reply will be the same as the first person. Then Allah (S.W.T.) will meet a third person and will ask similar questions, and the person's reply will be: "O Lord I believed in you, in your books, and in your messengers. I prayed, I fasted, and I gave charity. And he will praise Allah as much as he can. Allah (S.W.T.) will say: "Hold on to your words, Now we will bring the witnesses. The person will ask himself “Who will testify against me?” Then that persons mouth will be sealed, and his thighs, flesh and bones will be asked to speak. They will speak about his bad deeds. He will know that he has no excuse. That is the hypocrite Allah (S.W.T.) will be furious with!”
No landmarks on earth for anyone
The Prophet (alayhee salatul wasalaam) said:
“Mankind will be gathered on the Day of Judgment, upon a reddish white earth {that looks} like a pure loaf of bread. There will be no landmarks on it for anyone {to see or use}.
Saving believers and embarassment of unbelievers in front of mankind on Day of Judgment
The Muslims have unianimously agreed on affirming the Accounting on the Day of Judgement. The description of the Accounting for the believer is that:
“Allah will confer privately with him and remind him of his sins, until he will realize that he is ruined. Then Allah will say to him: ‘I screened your sins in the world for you and today, I will forgive you for them.’ Then he will be given his book of good deeds. As for the disbelievers and the hypocrites, (their sins will be exposed publicly) and there will be a general announcement about them before all creatures: “These are the ones who lied upon their Lord. Verily, is not the curse of Allah upon the wrongdoers!’"***

Muslims shall be judged first on the day of Judgment
This ummah (of Muslims) will be the first in receiving the Accounting, due to the Prophet’s (alayhee salatul wasalaam) saying:
“We are the last (of nations), while being the first to be judged before (the rest of) the creatures.” {Agreed Upon}***
Horror of the Day of Judgment
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith (Hadith 8.531)
The Prophet said, "You will meet Allah barefooted, naked, walking on feet, and uncircumcised."
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith (Hadith 8.534)
Allah's Apostle said, "The people will be gathered barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised." I(Aisha) said, "O Allah's Apostle! Will the men and the women look at each other?" He said, "The situation (on The Day of Resurrection) will be too hard for them to pay attention to that."
When asked by Hadrat Aisha (r.a.), the Messenger of Allah (saws) replied that the terror, state, and situation of that Tumultuous Day of Judgment will be such that one would not care about the state of another!
God says:
Those who have disbelieved and died in disbelief, the earth full of gold would not be accepted from any of them if it were offered as a ransom. They will have a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers. (Quran, 3:91)
